The Oriental Cat is extremely fond of his people and will tell you exactly what he thinks, in a loud, raspy voice.

  • Weight: male: medium: 8-12 lbs. Female: small: <8 lbs.
  • Longevity: 9-14 yrs.
  • Colors: white, blue, ebony, cream, red, brown, frost, platinum, fawn, chocolate, chestnut, cinnamon, lavender, champagne, seal
  • Pattern: solid color, tortoiseshell, bicolor, tricolor/calico, tabby, ticking, smoke, shaded, points
  • Eye color: blue, green, odd-eyed
  • Tendency to shed: moderate, high
  • Less allergenic: no
  • Social needs: moderate
  • Head: wedge, created by straight lines extending from the nose to the tips of the ears forming a triangle
  • Muzzle: fine with no muzzle break
  • Ears: wide at base, strikingly large
  • Eyes: almond-shaped, mediumlarge, set with an oriental slant toward the nose
  • Body: long, elegant and muscular.
  • Legs: long with hind legs higher than front legs
  • Feet: small and oval
  • Tail:  long, in proportion to overall cat
  • Coat in Oriental Shorthair: very short, tight, closelying. 
  • Coat in Oriental Longhair: semi-longhair, close-lying; slight undercoat; fine, silky texture. A shorter coat is permitted over the shoulders.
  • Behavior: the Oriental Cat is an affectionate cat and requires her parent to be as dedicated to her as she is to her parent. The parent must be affectionate to the Oriental and must spend some time spent playing with her.
